Carolyn Karcher, editor of
our new edition of Albion W. Tourgée's Bricks Without Straw, appeared on WUNC radio's The State of Things today. Host Frank Stasio interviewed her about Tourgée's importance to North Carolina history. Bricks Without Straw is a classic of American political fiction, first published in 1880, about the experiences of emancipated slaves during Reconstruction.
