No Price Increase for Euclid Prime in 2012

Pricing for the 2012 Euclid Prime collection is now available: pricing for the collection has not increased from last year’s rates. 

Hosted on the Project Euclid platform, the collection includes 30 high-impact, peer-reviewed titles in theoretical and applied mathematics and statistics. New to the collection this year is the Missouri Journal of Mathematical Sciences.

 Beginning in 2012, domestic pricing will be based on the 2010 Carnegie Classifications and a new international pricing model based on World Bank Development Income Group Indicators will be introduced.

"Although the economy has started to improve, many libraries are still facing significant budget cuts in 2012," says Mira Waller, Project Euclid Manager.  “We recognize that these anticipated cuts are on top of continued annual reductions, so I am pleased to announce that the Euclid Prime prices will see no increase in 2012."

Project Euclid Receives 2011 PAM Division Award

Project Euclid — the premier platform and information community for mathematics and statistics resources from independent publishers — received the 2011 Division Award from the Physics-Astronomy-Mathematics (PAM) Division of the Special Libraries Association. Project Euclid is jointly managed by Cornell University Library and Duke University Press.

Given annually, this award recognizes significant contributions to the literature of physics, mathematics, or astronomy, and honors work that demonstrably improves the exchange of information within these three disciplines. The award also takes into consideration projects that benefit libraries.

“It is an honor for Project Euclid to receive the Special Library Association’s PAM Award,” said Mira Waller, Project Euclid Manager. “PAM is a community of peers and a strong voice for librarians and information experts around the world. In receiving this award I feel that Project Euclid is fulfilling its core mission of disseminating scholarly information in the fields of mathematics and statistics.”

“The PAM Division Award is a real honor,” said David Ruddy, Cornell’s Project Euclid lead and Director of Scholarly Communications Services at Cornell University Library. “It is also validation that through strong collaborations the academy can effectively address challenges facing scholarly communications.”

Cornell University Library launched Project Euclid in 2000. In 2008, Cornell and Duke University Press established a collaborative partnership agreement to jointly manage and expand the project. Its mission is to advance scholarly communication in the field of theoretical and applied mathematics and statistics. It is designed to address the unique needs of low-cost independent and society journals.

Project Euclid Reaches 1 Million Pages

Project Euclid, a not-for-profit initiative to support independent publishers of mathematics and statistics, announced yesterday that they now have over one million pages of open-access content on their site. Researchers, scholars, and students from around the word can access this content on Project Euclid without any restrictions.
    The Web site http://projecteuclid.org first went live eight years ago. That first month, August 2001, Euclid held content from 6 journals, with 126 articles total. Today there are over 60 journal titles -- from the United States, Japan, Europe, Brazil, and Iran -- and the system holds 105,960 articles, 159 monographs, and over 1.39 million pages.
    Project Euclid, jointly managed by Cornell University Library and Duke University Press, provides affordable access to high-impact, peer-reviewed mathematics and statistics journals, monographs, and conference proceedings.  Its mission is to advance scholarly communication by addressing the unique needs of  independent and society publishers.  By forming mutually beneficial partnerships between these publishers and the global library community, Project Euclid strengthens and encourages scholarly communications as well as cultivates nontraditional publishing models. Through a combination of support by subscribing libraries and participating publishers, Project Euclid is able to make 70% of its journal articles available without any access restrictions.
